Just browsing a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and found this bit of awesome:
This sent me to The Google which sent me to The Wiki here I learned this bit of awesome about it:
Because the Carlton could equal or exceed the performance of many contemporary sports cars while also carrying four passengers, it generated some controversy among the automotive and general press. Bob Murray, then editor of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! magazine, wrote: "Nobody buying this car could possibly argue he either needs or will be able to use a top whack which is claimed to be around 180 mph." Murray went on to suggest that Vauxhall should follow the example set by German automakers (who had begun electronically limiting the top speed of their high-performance cars to 155 mph.) This sentiment was picked up by newspapers and talk radio stations, who would interview people calling for the car's ban. Ultimately, the General Motors Europe executives associated with the project voted unanimously to not restrict the car's top speed, and it was released to acclaim from the motoring press. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Now, I realize that as a motorhead you soon learn that to more you know about cars the more you know how much you don't know about cars, but how is it that I didn't know about this car?
Bonus fact: In about two years this thing can be imported which leads me to this: I use too many colons and I use them incorrectly.
The fact is we are on the cusp of being able to legally import many automotive greats over the next few years. R32/33 Skyline? Yes. E30 EVO I, II, and III? Yes. All manner of Alpina trickery? That too!
Given the cash, which none of us have, which late '80s or early '90s car would you import?

You have awakened dreams that have long been slumbered...this is also nortorious for beimg a bank robbers car. One person went on a huge crime spree because of how capable the car was. I too look forward to the day that an R33 will grace my driveway.

You could import this one . It's 25 years old already. It's not the Lotus version, but it is the next best thing when it comes to the Omega/Carlton. And for only a fraction of the price. Added bonus: LHD.

I am shocked to learn one could import one of these. Although it makes no difference as I am quite poor.

I could see that working. "Suspect last seen fleeing in a somewhat forgettable and unidentifiable black sedan"

I have no idea but I just assumed fairly expensive that's the way it seems to go with the things I like unfortunately.

Oh dear lord, are we really that close to Carlton import-eligibility? May have to satisfy a dream here in a few years.
Also, bravo on this little quip; I quite enjoyed it:

I learned about the Lotus Carton through Forza. Yes, the R32 Skyline is on my list but also these guys:
Should be able to import these soon, in what, 2-3 more years?
Also on the bucket list:
13 more years to save
17 more years to save
8 more years to save
